Dublin - Ernie Els has had a change of heart and will tee it up at Jack Nicklaus's Memorial tournament on the PGA Tour this week.
Els wrote on his website: "Having had an unscheduled weekend off, I'm obviously keen to get back into the swing of things again. Originally, this week was going to be a gap in my schedule, but I've changed my mind and decided to play in the Memorial. It's one of my favourite tournaments of the year and I love Jack's course, Muirfield Village. I figure it'll be a good week to try to get back some positive vibes in my game. I'm really looking forward to it."
Vijay Singh withdrew from the Memorial on Monday because of a rib injury sustained last week.
That would leave the Memorial with seven of the top 10 players from the world ranking. Tiger Woods, recovering from April 15 surgery on his left knee, did not enter and Adam Scott decided not to play.
The tournament starts on Thursday.
Singh, who won the Memorial in 1997, said he injured a muscle in his ribs upon arriving in England last week for the BMW Championship and felt pain while warming up on the range ahead of the first round.
