Johannesburg - Doctors attending to flyweight boxer Samora Msophi say they are hopeful he'll regain full consciousness within two days, the SABC reported on Sunday.
The East London boxer, who has been admitted to a local hospital on Friday night after being knocked out in a South African flyweight title match, has had an operation to remove a clot on his brain.
Msophi of Mdantsane was knocked out by Msuno Gwayana - the current South African flyweight champion - in the fourth round.
Msophi was taken to hospital unconscious after being attended to by ringside doctors for more than twenty minutes.
Boxing SA's Eastern Cape representative, Phakamile Jacobs, said Msophi's condition had improved, but he was still unconscious.
