Petacchi guilty of doping

Lausanne - Italian cyclist Alessandro Petacchi has been found guilty of doping and stripped of his five stage wins in the 2007 Giro d'Italia.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport also ruled the 34-year-old sprinter must serve a ban until the end of August. The penalty will be applied retroactively from last November.
Tuesday's ruling relates to allegations Petacchi excessively used an asthma drug during the 2007 Giro. All of Petacchi's results since October 31 will also be scratched.
As a result, Petacchi will miss this year's Tour de France.
