Philippoussis injured surfing

Sydney - Former Australian tennis star Mark Philippoussis has suffered hip and feet injuries when he got into trouble surfing in wild seas off Victoria's south-west coast, his agent said on Thursday.
The former US Open and Wimbledon finalist struck trouble off Bells Beach when he was surfing alone, his agent Rob Aivatoglou confirmed.
Philippoussis, 31, sought shelter in a sea cave, but had to brave the rough seas again to get back to land, Aivatoglou said.
Witnesses told broadcaster Nine Network the former Davis Cup winner suffered hip and feet injuries after being swept into the area being battered by huge waves.
Philippoussis's girlfriend was nearby and was alerted to the problem, television reported.
Philippoussis was reportedly recovering at his parents' home in nearby Melbourne.
His mother said Philippoussis was doing okay after his ordeal, the Nine Network reported.
Aivatoglou said Philippoussis had been surfing as part of his rehabilitation programme following a recent knee operation, as he planned a return to full fitness.
Philippoussis lost to fellow Australian Pat Rafter in the final of the 1998 US Open and was beaten by Roger Federer in the 2003 Wimbledon final.
