Johannesburg - Former Orlando Pirates playmaker Benedict Vilakazi wants Irvin Khoza's blessings, this after the diminutive midfielder recently joined bitter rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.
"I want the chairman, Doctor Irvin Khoza's, blessings," he said. "I was raised by Pirates and I consider the club my home. Khoza is like a father to me and I would not be anywhere in football if it was not for him," he told Radio Metro on Monday.
The 26-year old was with the Bucs since 1999 and left the club in 2007 for Denmark Super League club Aalborg.
"I would really appreciate it if he could give me his blessings as this was not an easy decision for me. I know that some supporters are upset too but it is a choice I made and I hope they'll accept it," Vilakazi said.
Tso, as he is popularly known, was instrumental when Pirates won the league title in 2000/01 and 2002/03 seasons. Since his move to Europe Vilakazi did not feature for the national team. Former Bafana coach Carlos Alberto Parriera never included Vilakazi because he rarely played for the Danish team.
