Wrangle over Mthembu ongoing

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs' manager Bobby Motaung says they are still waiting for Safa to respond to their appeal for assistance in resolving the matter of Maritzburg City striker Sphelele Mthembu, who is alleged to have signed pre-contracts with both Amakhosi and Orlando Pirates.

Even though it has taken Safa a long time to respond to their appeal regarding the ownership of Mthembu, Motaung vowed that they will fight until to the bitter end to have justice done in this matter.

"Up to now Safa has still to respond to the letter that we wrote to them concerning the issue of Mthembu.

"However we will not rest until justice is done in this matter."

Motaung maintains that the player signed a pre-contract with them last year.

"We would not fight over this matter had the boy not signed for us. We have valid documents to prove this."

Concerning the issue of Shaun Bartlett and Derrick Spencer, whose contracts are due to expire this season, Motaung confirmed that they have still to speak to the players about new contracts.

"Our focus is currently on our league campaign. We will deal with that soon, but we will not do it through the media," he added.
