Johannesburg - Two soccer players from PSL club Platinum Stars were admitted to the Union hospital in Germiston after a motor vehicle accident on Tuesday, said Ekurhuleni metro police.
Spokesperson Superintendent Jimmy Maboko said the incident happened on the N3 near Alberton.
"It appears the two players, aged 27 and 25, were from a match and were racing their cars.
"They both got minor to serious injuries and had to be admitted to hospital," said Maboko.
He said the players were alone in their cars - a silver Nissan Xtrail and a red BMW 318.
There was no indication that the two were drunk, he said.
Platinum Stars defeated Moroka Swallows 1-0 in Rustenburg on Monday night.
