Rome - Italy will play a friendly against 2010 Soccer World Cup hosts South Africa in Siena on October 17.
The Italian soccer federation announced on Wednesday that the medieval Tuscan city would host the match.
It will be the first time Italy will play in Siena. The city's 15 000-seat stadium was slated to host a friendly with Romania in February but the match was canceled following the killing of a policeman in riots at a Serie A game in Catania, Sicily.
Four days before the South Africa game, the World Cup champions will host Georgia in Genoa in a European Championship qualifying match.
