The Free State flyweight champion Themba Ntsele has put his crown on the line against the challenger William Mavaleliso.

They will trade leathers on Sunday in a ten-rounder bout to be staged at the Ikgopoleng High School in Sasolburg.

The tournament is an ongoing development venture to raise boxing in the province.

The two contenders turned professional in 2004 and won on their debut against experienced fighters.

Sunday’s bill offers them the opportunity to showcase their character.

The other supporting bouts feature Thulani Mkhwanazi against Gcobani Mangina in the welterweight bout with Page Tshesane and Kenneth Hlaise battling it out in the junior middleweight division.

These boxers will exchange blows over eight rounds.

The lead-up fights feature Matswake Moselesele and Tshepo Moeketsi, fighting in the junior flyweight (six rounds), Oupa Mahlangu and Lucky Dlamini, middleweight (six rounds), with Henry Ngubane meeting Wandile Ndlela in the lightweight (six round), and Lucky Makhubela and Pheello Nyakane meet in the lightweight (six rounds).
