And the winner is . . .
The best-attended Spontaan auditions in the Eastern Free State yet took place last Thursday and showed that this beautiful part of South Africa is also brimming with talent. Judges had their hands full as a steady stream of entrants stepped forward to sing their song. Eventually Motsamai Tshabalala from Qwaqwa was chosen as this year’s winner for Express Qwaqwa, with Kholiwe Kilane the runner-up. Tshabalala will now be invited to Bloemfontein on 11 and 12 July to participate in the annual final. The final will be held on 11 July at the Bloem Plaza and 12 July at the Volksblad Arts Festival. Already Tshabalala is in line to win some wonderful prizes from a host of generous sponsors. “I came here to win today and am so glad I did,” an elated Tshabalala said shortly after being chosen as the winner. Auditions for Express will be held on Saturday, May 24, at the Volksblad building, 79 Nelson Mandela Avenue starting at 09:00. See you there!
