The Tetlanyo Secondary School recently held a memorial service for one of their late teacher Olebogeng Frans.

The late Frans was killed in a car accident on the road between Kimberley and Barkly West.

The memorial service was hosted at the Recreation Hall in Galeshewe and was attended by the family members, teachers, learners and representatives from different organisations and friends.

Frans was described by everyone as a happy person who always offered a shoulder to cry on.

During his speech a representative from the SRC, Mathew Morake, encouraged his fellow learners that they should not give up on their dream of flying, because Frans was not there anymore.

“He has given us wings to fly, let us not give up on that dream.

“Only the Almighty God knows why he chose him instead of someone else, and through Him we can overcome every obstacle in our lives,” Mathew concluded.

Ms Palesa Thulo, district director of the Department of Education, also said a few words of consolation to the beloved.

She thanked the family for allowing the department to use his expertise when he was still part of the Tetlanyo family to empower the learners.

Palesa asked the other teachers to take care of Frans’s class and finish what he started.

“Learners, let us see Frans in you, he taught you what life is all about, fulfil his wish to give you better lives.

“No one can accept the word ‘gone’ as it takes away our loved ones, it’s selfish, leaves us with emptiness, it’s cruel and always leaves unanswered questions,” Palesa concluded.

Frans’s best friend Kagisho Mere also touched everyone’s emotions when said a few words of consolation.

He described his life and friendship with the deceased and confessed how he kept on asking himself why Frans left him behind.
