Hard work pays off
The previous season’s National Vodacom League play-offs player of the tournament Malefetsane Rankati received African Warriors’ most improved player of the season award. He collected a prestigious trophy and R1 500 in prize money. The star player, who grew in confidence, showed an improvement this season in the National First League. “I am happy to be a recipient of one of the awards. This came as a surprise to me. I have to work hard from now on to maintain this standard. When one receives this kind of recognition it is motivation that shows me there is something that I do that is appreciated,” Rankati said. He said the team’s head coach Molefi Ntseki was instrumental in helping him to improve. “I want to thank our coach, Molefi Ntseki, who has been a pillar of strength to the team. I cannot forget my teammates, especially those who have been guiding me through difficult times. The technical staff have been behind the team and I’m very thankful to them,” said Rankati. Express Qwaqwa interviewed Warriors’ assistant coach Morena Ramorebudi about Rankati’s progress, and he said: “Rankati is a hard worker. He is one of the players one worries about when injured. He struggled to reach the starting line-up. However, when he had the chance he proved that he was hungry for success. The award is proof that he is still doing well. He must keep up the good work. We know that some players when they get awards lose and I hope that it does not happen to him,” said Ramorebudi.
