Dancing her passion
Love and passion for her chosen craft drove Angelina Morabe (25) of Kenzie Town, Phuthaditjhaba, to start the Phuthaditjhaba Youth Dance Club. She said the main aim of the club is to help the youth who are ensnared in the dangers of drugs, alcohol, substance abuse and teenage pregnancy to get away from these social ills. Morabe said these problems are especially rife among young people. “I fell in love with dancing at a very young age and I was exposed to it while I was doing gr. 4. I enjoyed it very much even at that young age,” she said with a slight smile. Morabe said there was no other sport she participated in, apart from dancing, during her school days. “I developed a strong passion for dancing. At some point I tried netball, but I did not enjoy it and as a result I had to quit netball and do what I love the most: to dance,” she said. She said it is very painful to see that her favourite sport is losing its popularity nowadays. One of Morabe’s proteges, Puseletso Mokoena, told Express Qwaqwa that she loves Samba and Rumba very much. “I did not know that dancing can be so much fun, and to tell you the truth I did not know much about dancing. I learned all the moves for the first time here. “Dancing is one of the most interesting sports one can pursue,” a happy Mokoena told Express Qwaqwa. Morabe said they are currently desperately searching for a sponsor to buy them dance attire. Anyone who is interested in helping these youngsters can visit them during their rehearsals at the Phuthaditjhaba Community Hall.
