Organisation helps needy
Basadi Talk, an umbrella organisation which uplifts people with disabilities, HIV/Aids, the elderly and abused women and children, with Mrs Sina Radebe as motivational speaker, received the priviledge to be invited to speak at a gala dinner at the Birchwood Hotel in Gauteng, on 29 September. Minister of Finance Trevor Manuel was a special guest at this prestigious South African Women in Dialogue annual forum. This year the theme was Financing for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment. Radebe’s speech at the function mainly addressed funding of small businesses and a plan to put Kroonstad and the Free State on the map. “I was the only Free State representative at this function and was very proud to address dignatories on issues which are near to my heart,” Radebe told Kroonnuus. Radebe is well-known for her input on Lesedi FM on the morning drive shows. Her love for old people and care for the needy is heart warming. “My latest project is my vegetable garden at my house. The spinach and pumpkins will be ready for Christmas and watch this space, because needy children from all backgrounds will benefit from Basadi Talk. “I managed to get SABC1 kids news to Kroonstad and some 200 kids had the opportunity to march from the Maokeng Police Station to the Kroonstad Police Station to hand over a memorandum on the kidnapping and killing of children.” Manuel assisted Radebe to know what to ask and say in order to receive government funding. “He is a man with a heart and can talk to anybody, rich or poor. It was such an honour to meet him.” Station commissioner of the Maokeng Police, Supt Tebello Mosekidi, nominated Radebe for this forum. “We work hand in hand with the police to assist the community. The first question I asked him was why the rand dropped when we heard that he might resign. He just laughed, because he knows that he is the only one who can manage the money of South Africa,” Radebe said. “We work very hard to uplift the community in Maokeng. However, we need the assistance of government and the community to fund projects to make our dreams real,” she said For more information call Radebe on 073-656-2332 or 056-212-9192.
