Learners from, gr. 1 to gr. 3 – 140 altogether – of the Segonyana Primary School in Mothibistad visited several sights in Kuruman. Mr. Duncan Moncho, deputy principal of the school, said that the children now understood the relationship between learning material and the actual places that they learnt about. They are thankful towards the Ga-Segonyana Municipality for arranging the tourguides and toward Mr Donald Connan for his reception and the free cooldrinks. The tourleader, Mr Itumeleng Thobega, one of the heritage practitioners of Ga-Segonyana/Kgalagadi, said that the Segonyana Primary School set an example for other schools. He appealed to the Department of Education to encourage schools to support places worth visiting in their own province before travelling to other places. Learners should first become familiar with their own area before visiting other areas or regions.
