HARMONY HIGH SCHOOL’s boys team continued their dominance in the MTN Cup u.16 boys’ tournament of the Free State.

Currently guided by former Free State Stars midfielder Pitso Mokoena, they clinched the tournament last Saturday – thus extending their winning record to six.

Staged under the auspices of the African Schools Football Association (Sasfa), this year’s Free State tournament final was held in the tiny town of Koffiefontein.

Harmony was crowned the champion for the sixth time in a row after hammering Grey College 3-0 in the final match.

The team received a gold medal and trophy, whilst the Grey College boys took home a silver medal. This was Grey’s first appea-rance in the final of this tournament.

Harmony convincingly won all its matches on the day of the final that featured teams from the districts of Thabo Mofu-tsanyana, Xhariep, Motheo, Fezile Dabi and Lejweleputswa.

The Harmony team piped Ntsu and Ceda 2-0 in the first two opening matches and showed its pedigree by walloping Bloemfontein-based Grey College 3-0 in the final event.

The Bloemfontein boys proved themselves against Lere La Thuto, whom they beat 2-0 in the semi-final outing.

Harmony’s commendable victory means they will again be representing the Free State in the 2007 national final of the MTN Cup u.16 boys. The national final will take place in Gauteng in Soweto from 25 till 29 September.

Harmony’s qualification is a major test to newly appointed coach Mokoena, who has replaced vastly experienced Molefi Ntseki.

Ntseki now pursues his career as head coach of the Mvela Golden League outfit African Warriors.

Ntseki guided the school to five MTN national finals and succeeded winning once after attaining second position in most instances.
