Spontaan still popular
This year the Vista Spontaan regional auditions were as popular as ever. There were 110 hopefuls from all over the region vying for the title as the Vista Spontaan winner for 2008. Talent was admired and hopefuls were listened to. Mr Andy Galloway, Spontaan organiser for Media 24, says this area abounds with talent and singers must never give up on their dreams. The auditioners were soon cut to 25 semi-finalists, then 9, and then the winners were announced. Versatility, voice, diction, presentability and stage performance were taken into account. This year’s winner is Jana Oosthuizen, and the runner-up is Latoya Mokoena. Vista salutes all of the brave performers who took part in Friday’s auditions. Better luck next year. The finals will take place at the Volksblad Arts Festival on 12 July at the University of the Free State.
