10-year sentence for child porn

The Pinetown Regional Court has sentenced 39-year-old Matthy Zondagh to 10 years imprisonment for the possession of child pornography. He also a received suspended sentence of five years and was issued a R30 000 fine.

The Pinetown Regional Court has sentenced 39-year-old Matthy Zondagh to 10 years imprisonment for the possession of child pornography. He also a received suspended sentence of five years and  was issued a R30 000 fine.

Zondagh was intercepted by crime intelligence unit who ran an operation called “Project Spider Web”. He was arrested in Kloof, KwaZulu Natal, in April 2015 after he was found with a memory stick containing images of child pornography. He was charged with possession of child pornography and made several court appearances before his sentencing.

He pleaded guilty to 1 132 counts of possession of child pornography.

Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni, Provincial Commissioner of the KZN police, said parents should keep a close eye on their children and monitor their social media activities by checking who they are chatting to and the pictures they are sharing.
