The KZN local from Dundee was sentenced to four life terms and 45 years for eight counts of rape and kidnapping. Radebe was traced and tracked down after he had been evading police for a number of years. He was arrested in November 2015, when he was found at a construction site in Dundee.

DNA results collected from the victims confirmed that Radebe was the one who had been terrorising women in Dundee from 2009 to 2015. His modus operandi was to target his victims from taverns on their way home.

A number of rape cases were opened at Dundee police station and transferred to Dundee Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for further investigation.

Major Shooz Magudulela, provincial spokesperson for the SAPS in KZN told Drum that it was difficult to determine how many more women he had raped over the period of six years as only eight women came forward.

“These women’s DNA analysis matched that of Radebe and we could successfully link him to the crimes,” he adds.

Radebe had made various court appearances until his conviction on Thursday.
