Aircraft crashes in the Western Cape

A light aircraft crashed shortly after take-off on a farm outside Stellenbosch in the Western Cape on Thursday, paramedics say.

A light aircraft crashed shortly after take-off on a farm outside Stellenbosch in the Western Cape on Thursday, paramedics said.

"After it crashed, it started to burn. Fire-fighters and various paramedics rushed to the scene, and the firefighters extinguished the blaze," ER24 spokesperson Christo Venter said.

Venter said the pilot, who is believed to be the only one in the plane, died.

Officials were investigating the accident.
