The ANC wishes Orlando Pirates well as they prepare for the first leg of the African CAF Champions League final at Orlando Stadium on Saturday. "Orlando Pirates carry the hopes and aspirations of South Africaand we have no doubt they will continue to represent us well as they have been doing in the tournament thus far," said ANC national spokesman Jackson Mthembu.

Pirates will battle the defending champions, Egyptian giants Al-Ahly, for the coveted title. It has been more than a decade since South Africa was last represented in the final of the CAF Champions League by Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club.

"It is time to bring the glory home once again. Together, we have come from far for the honour to compete on an equal footing with the best on the continent," said Mthembu.

Mthembu has urged all South Africans to support the local side against the seven-time African Champions.

"Let all South Africans, once more, stand united behind one of our own and celebrate our common nationhood," he said.
