ANCWL Secretary-General Meokgo Matuba said, “The ANCWL is surprised that despite her previous claims of not having resources to investigate complains, the public protector has moved with speed to ensure that she doesn’t disappoint vivid Israel supporters, the DA.  The tendency of the public protector to please the DA is not a new.  It was observed when the public protector amendment her report on the multimillion-rand tender for communications services put out by DA-led Western Cape (WC) provincial government.”

Matuba  said in her draft report, the public protector found that the inclusion of DA leader and WC  Premier Helen Zille’s special advisers, Ryan Coetzee and Gavin Davis on the tender bid evaluation committee was unlawful and in violation of the Constitution, but she quickly retracted on that after the DA objected to her report.  “It will be unfortunate for the public protector’s office to be part of an agenda to advance the narrow political opportunism by vivid Israel supporters such as the DA.”

She said the party lodged a complaint to advance the DA’s narrow agenda of reducing state capture by corporate run by other racial groups and not just whites. Madonsela appears to be pushing ahead with her probe into Zuma following reports that a request to the cabinet that certain financial information be handed over.

The Sunday Times  reported that the public protector  aims to complete her probe into the president, for allegedly allowing the Gupta family to influence his appointment of Cabinet ministers and heads of state-owned entities, by the end of her term next month.  The paper reported that Madonsela has written to Zuma, informing him of her probe.
