Arms deal inquiry postponed

The Seriti Commission has postponed the arms deal inquiry to March.

The arms deal inquiry has been postponed to March due to deal critic and losing bidder Richard Young's inability to show up to the commission this morning.

Young has cited his in completion of a statement which will be submitted as evidence to the Seriti Commission as a reason for the postponement.

Young was set to testify in July 2014 but had failed to make it for his appearance because he needed a week or two instead of the three days the commission had provided in order for him to testify.

Following Young's absence this morning, Judge Willie Seriti has adjusted Young's appearance date to the 4th of March and has stated that if Young fails to show up then they will no longer be able to "accommodate him".

President Jacob Zuma appointed the commission in 2011 and its term will run until the 30th of April 2015.

The commission's report is expected to be handed over 6 months after the end of said term.
