African and international stars are collaborating in the fight against the Ebola Outbreak.

African and international stars will be working with network provider  MTN  in the fight against Ebola.

As many as 70 African artists will work on a new arrangement of ‘We are the World’ to help raise funds to fight the pandemic.

The song will be available as a digital download in the first week of December. It will be available in Full Track, Tru Tone and Caller Tune formats. All proceeds from sales will be donated to the African Union.

Lindelani Mkhize is the lead producer of the song which features talents of Donald, Mafikizolo, Lloyd Cele, Loyiso, Matthew Gold, Elvis Blue, Kurt Darren, The Arrows,  Joyous Celebration and Dr. Rebecca Malope.

“One is always ready to assist for a good cause,” said Lindelani Mkhize. “We need to raise our voices and do something about the issue. The project also gave me an opportunity to work with my brother DJ Oskido.

“Parts by South African artists have been recorded and other artists around the continent have already laid down material and we are in the process of getting all the voices together.”

Said Larry Annetts, Chief Marketing Officer at MTN SA. “Considering that the World Health Organisation (WHO) has stated that there could be as many as 10,000 new EVD (Ebola Virus Desease) cases per week by December 2014, we needed to take immediate action.

“We are humbled to be part of this initiative where we leverage on mobile telephony and the pervasive power of music to make a positive change.”
