Ask Dr Nomteto: Child has pimples on nose

I have tried unscented cream and nothing seems to be working. It’s affecting her confidence.

Question:

My seven-year-old daughter has pimples on her forehead and nose. She’s had them for the past year or so.

What could help?

DR NOMTETO ANSWERS:

Visiting a Dermatologist is your best option. Too much time has passed without a physical consultation.

The character of the pimples must be assessed professionally, especially at her age. Mid-childhood acne is documented from 18 months to 7 years.

Clinical examination and further blood tests to the lab will assist in diagnosis. The differential diagnosis is quite broad and mostly related to hormones.

Treatment and management is very much age specific.

It could be serious, so please pay attention.
