Ask Sis Dolly: I feel alone

By Drum Digital

I was raped when I was 16 and I took it as my fault.

I fell pregnant and decided to abort the baby.

My friends neglected me. The following year, I was sick and found

out I am HIV-positive.

Now I don’t trust anyone in my life. Please help me because I don’t know what to do any more.

Sis Dolly answers:

I am sorry to hear you’ve had such a difficult time.

You need to find a place of support so you can receive counselling for the rape, for healing with regard to the abortion and support for your HIV condition.

Your lack of trust is understandable because you feel let down by a number of situations and people in your life.

This doesn’t need to define you or your future, though.

Counselling will help you work through your past and your current situation and allow you to start living a less lonely and happier future.

Contact Marie Stopes Clinic on 0800-117-785,  People Opposing Women Abuse (Powa) 011-642- 4345 or LifeLine’s Aids Helpline on 0861-012-322.

All of them will be able to support you with counselling and refer you to other practitioners so you get the holistic support you need.

I wish you healing and all the best.
