What’s worse, the guy doesn’t care about me.

It’s never easy discussing matters of love and sex with our elders.

But there comes a time in our lives, like when you lose your virginity, to own up and talk. Yes, you’re still too young to be worrying about sex with guys who don’t care about you.

This is exactly the stuff that contributes to HIV/Aids and fatherless children. It’s clear you’re upset and don’t feel too good about the situation.

Firstly, it seems important to you to tell your granny. It might be hard to break this to her, but she’s the right person to speak to for support, love, comfort and advice.

Perhaps if you introduce the topic to her like that, telling her that you trust her and giving her the reason why you’re telling her, then it might be easier to break the ice.

She might be disappointed and shocked at first. Nobody finds these topics easy to discuss, but having an adult you trust is a great start towards being a better person.

Talking to adults about these issues will help you minimize future mistakes.
