Ask sis Dolly: Is it okay to remarry?

I'm in love with a man who has a child with another woman.

I'm a 35 year old widow and have two girls. I've told myself I would never marry again, but I love this man. Is it right to marry him?

Sis Dolly answers:

Are you asking if it's right to move on with your life after the passing of your husband? Or are you asking if it's okay to marry for a second time? I'm not sure of your reasons for telling yourself you'd never marry again. The only thing that really stands in the way of your remarrying is whether you give yourself permission to do so. Because you have children who have connections to your late husband's family, there could be a need to speak to someone from that family who you trust in order to feel that you're being released to marry. This isn't about permission but about you homouring your husband's memory to his family. Good luck!
