Ask sis Dolly: Marriage angers him

When we talk about marriage he becomes angry and tell me he can't pay lobolo.

I've been dating my boyfriend for 10 years. We have two kids and live together. He always says he loves me but doesn't show it. When we talk about marriage he becomes angry and tell me he can't pay lobolo, but he has just bought a house. He also says he wants to spend the rest of his life with me. I'm scared to go back home with two kids because I'm not working. I'm so confused.

Sis Dolly answers:

Did he buy the house for himself or for all of you? Would you rather have a house or be married? Having said that, I'm not sure why he gets angry. It's possible he doesn't see the need for the ritual of marriage given your time together and that you share a family. The two of you need to sit down and seriously discuss what your future looks like, what your individual needs are and how you can create a joint future.
