Ask Sis Dolly: Should I move on?

I’m a 24-year-old lady who’s deeply in love with a guy, but he doesn’t seem to be serious.

We’ve been in an on-off relationship for the past four years, we even got engaged in 2014. He doesn’t have a Matric qualification, so in 2014 I enrolled him to rewrite Matric but he also failed that.

I did almost everything I could to help him, but we always fight and he calls me names whenever I can’t help him financially because I’m no longer employed.

This relationship depresses me and I no longer think it will flourish. He always makes me feel guilty when I try to solve issues. Am I wasting my time?

Sis Dolly answers:

It’s encouraging that there are people like you out there who are willing to empower their partner.

Remember, you can take a horse to water, but you can never force it to drink. You’ve done all you can for this man and he has paid you back by being ungrateful. His actions indicate that he is just using you.

Are you willing to continue receiving this kind of abuse from him? Wasted time and energy never return. Focus on moving on and empowering yourself.

You are still young and have your whole life ahead of you.
