She has been out of the public eye for some time but as soon as she walks into the uber-trendy Sun- Square Hotel in Montecasino, Joburg, with her children, she creates a stir.

The striking woman has hardly changed since she was the Miss South Africa runner-up in 1992 and a Miss Universe semi-finalist in 1995.

Her sense of style is still spot on, her make-up flawless and her manners meticulous. With her warm infectious smile, she takes a seat and introduces her children.

“These are my boys Keanu (12) and Sasha (6), and my daughter Tatiana (9),” says former Miss Soweto and beauty queen.

The proud mom explains the meaning of her children’s names. “Keanu is a Hawaiian name which means ‘free-spirited’, Sasha is a Russian name which means ‘he who leads by example’, and Tatiana is also Russian and means ‘she’s alive’.

Augustine says naming her children was an important process. “The names had to have a lovely sound and a positive meaning to drive a message across,” she says.

She explains she chose these names in particular as she firmly believes her children will one day own businesses and their names must be a representation of their strength.

This beautiful woman is proof of this theory. Her own name, Augustine, means majesty and dignity and she certainly has those qualities in abundance.
