Danny Jordaan has moved swiftly to assure local fans that Bafana Bafana's win against Spain will stand and it will be counted in the next Fifa rankings.

South African Football Association (SAFA) President

Since the Tuesday night game many are worried that Bafana’s historic win over world champions Spain, was in vain because Spain used a seventh substitute when goalkeeper Victor Valdes was injured, the match cannot be classified as a category A game and therefore no caps will be earned and it will not be recorded as an official result

Speaking to Neal Collins, a British sport journalist currently based in Mzansi Jordaan said:

“We will not lose rankings points because they used a seventh substitute. I can promise you that. It is not Spain’s game, it was not authorised by them, it was authorised by FIFA.”

“FIFA recognised this match in terms of their statutes, including displaying the World Cup. Was there a violation of FIFA statutes? Absolutely not. The match commissioner’s report and the referee’s report makes that clear.

Meanwhile EWN Sport is reporting that FIFA has confirmed to that at this stage Bafana Bafana’s 1-0 win over Spain will not count towards world ranking points.

A FIFA spokesperson has told EWN Sport they are still in the process of gathering the official report in order to analyse possible next steps
