Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid will clash this evening at 17.55pm South African time in the much anticipated El Clasico which usually serves some of the greatest football on the planet.

It's the match everyone has been waiting for and now it's finally here!

Barcelona's Lionel Messi is almost certain to start in against arch rivals Madrid after recovering from a thigh injury. Messi missed the wins against Celtic and Valladolid, but started Tuesday's Champions League 1-1 draw at AC Milan.

Barcelona Coach Gerardo Martino had to decide whether to play veteran defender Carles Puyol, while Gerard Pique struggles with a hamstring injury and is a slight doubt for the tie.

Madrid forward Gareth Bale is fit, while Diego Lopez is likely to start in goal replacing regular number one Iker Casillas.

Casillas started during Wednesday's 2-1 win over Juventus, but he has purely been playing in the Champions League this season, with Lopez the first choice in the league.

Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti also had to decide whether to bring world-record signing Bale into the starting line-up after his substitute appearance against Juve.

The match up is expected to produce fireworks!
