Red Square premium cider is once again giving one aspiring DJ a chance to kick-start their career

in the mainstream entertainment industry.

In its sixth year of existence, the Red Square DJ Knock Out Challenge has unearthed promising DJ’s, including DJ Shimza and Dj Lite, who went on to lay their foundations in the competitive music industry.

This year’s winning DJ will walk away with Djaying equipment worth R100 000, a cash prize of R60 000 plus a chance to build a media profile to help them attract the attention of music promoters.

“The Djaying equipment prize is basically aimed at giving the young winning DJ the necessary tools for their trade. Something they can utilize to attain their economic freedom, through self-employment, while advancing their career,” Red Square Marketing Manager Victor Selaelo said.

Selaelo said hosting auditions and the actual competition in townships has proven to be a successful strategy over the years.

“Most talent competitions conduct their searches in towns and suburbs. But the intention of the Red Square DJ Knock Out Challenge is to mostly present township youngsters with opportunities to turn their lives around for the best and boost their careers in the entertainment business.”

Application forms are available for download on www.djknockoutchallenge.co.za. The site also has a list of participating outlets where the entry formscan be dropped off. Auditions will kick off on 14 November and all entry forms should be submitted before 9 November 2012.

The competition finals will be held on 14 December at Sebokeng Township where finalists will share the stage with some of SA’s elite DJ’s.
