Following their 46-6 Rugby World Cup win over Samoa at the weekend, the Springboks have moved up to No 5 on World Rugby’s official rankings.

Heyneke Meyer’s men slipped to sixth last Monday after a shock loss to Japan, but an improved effort in Birmingham has seen them move up one spot.

Wales’ upset 28-25 win over England has seen them move up two spots to a best-ever No 2 in the rankings.

They usurp England and Australia, despite the Wallabies' comprehensive 65-3 win against Uruguay on Sunday.

England meanwhile have been relegated from third to sixth place, falling below Ireland and South Africa.

Scotland, who are South Africa’s next opponents at the World Cup, are also back in the Top 10 following a 39-16 win over the USA on Sunday.

World Rugby rankings (Top 10):

1. New Zealand (92.89)

2. Wales (87.31)

3. Australia (86.75)

4. Ireland (84.40)

5. South Africa (82.66)

6. England (82.35)
