Cape Town – Brian Molefe is set to return to Eskom as its chief executive on Monday, as the board has reportedly rescind his application for early retirement, Business Report revealed on Friday.

Molefe quit following the Public Protector’s report, State of Capture, in 2016 and has been a member of parliament for the past three months.

“Eskom took the decision after Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown last month objected to Eskom’s payment of a R30m pension payout to Molefe,” the newspaper reported.

The board met to discuss this and agreed to rescind the application, Eskom chairperson Ben Ngubane told the paper.
