Steak to Share

This is an affordable way to enjoy steak.How it works

Each couple brings two steaks of their choice (any cut except fillet). Prepare a fire with plenty of coals and cook one or two of the steaks so everyone at the table can have a taste. Slice the steaks and offer around on a wooden board. Serve with a variety of dips in small bowls, a salad or two and a generous quantity of hot chips. Sit back and catch up with friends over a glass of wine before cooking the next round of steaks.

Steak Choices Sirloin, rump, T-bone, prime rib, rib-eye and porterhouse. Allow for 250-300 g per person and 2,5-3 cm thick so the steak can be nicely browned on the outside and juicy inside. Steak sliced too thinly tends to be dry.

Marinade, Sauces and Salsas

Make the sauces and salsas a day in advance and store them in the fridge. Soy Sauce MarINaDe you WIll NeeD 250 ml (1 cup) soy sauce 250 ml (1 cup) olive or sunflower oil 60 ml (¼ cup) lemon juice 4 cloves garlic, crushed

Method

Mix the ingredients and marinate the steaks in the sauce for at least 4 hours. Pat the meat dry with paper towels just before cooking.

Tip Quick braai sauce: 2 parts Worcester sauce with 1 part oil.
