They play brothers in Isibaya, but it’s not much of an act because Menzi Ngubane and Mzwakhe Mbuli are just as close in real life

There are two new taxi bosses in town.

Meet Judas Ngwenya (played by Menzi Ngubane), rich and ruthless patriarch of the Ngwenya family, and his older brother, Ngonyama (Mzwakhe Mbuli), a once-feared taxi-boss-turned butcher.

Between them, they look set to ruffle feathers in the long-running feud between two powerful taxi families: the Zungus and the Ndlovus.

Menzi (53), who left Generations after portraying media mogul Sibusiso Dlomo for close on a decade, is happy to be part of the Isibaya family. It’s also the soapie debut of “The People’s Poet”, Mzwakhe (57), who will have a recurring role as Ngonyama.

But first, Menzi uses our interview to set the record straight about rumours that he’s returning to Generations. Not true, says the award-winning actor who was axed from the show in 2014.
