Here are a some things you should already be working on, as a young professional in the making.

As a student your life is filled with assignments, exams and a social life that leaves you with very little sleep.

Thinking about your career can at times be overwhelming as it seems both very close, but not close  enough for you to really grapple with.

Your student years should be spent enjoying the freedom that comes with your minimal responsibilities, but should also be used wisely preparing for the life of accountability that's sure to follow.

Here are a some things you should already be working on, as a young professional in the making.

Get work experience

Whether it's directly related to your ideal career or not, you can only benefit from some years in the working world. Put yourself out there and earn your stripes.

Don't be afraid to share your ideas

Younger people are more nervous about rejection and having things be "right". Don't worry about that, share in your thinking with other people - it's how you grow and have others notice you.

Take initiative

Similar to the above point, don't be nervous to share in ideas you think can help improve whatever your team is working on. Your effort will be appreciated.

Network

Go out there and meet like-minded people, people who are influential and people who are just starting out like you. This will serve you well in future.

Don't be afraid to ask "Why?"

Lastly, again, it is not always about being right. Your questioning mind is always a positive trait, don't fear it.
