Careers: Letting Agent

From being an order assembler at a fresh produce company to an award-winning rental agent, Darlington Chinembiri has come a long way.

Zimbabwean-born Darlington (31) is a letting agent at Pam Golding Properties’ Hyde Park branch, where he is responsible for procuring, negotiating and concluding lease agreements.

“I source residential property, price council landlords and get permission from owners to lease their property,” explains Darlington.

This is the easier part of his job. The next step is starting the negotiations between the landlord

and the tenant, not only in terms of monthly rental, but also any special conditions that may relate to the lease agreement.

“This is easier said than done as tenants look for specific things in the property, but I like challenges and for me closing the deal is like winning a battle,” says Darlington.
