Chocolate-filled French toast

Get a quick chocolate fix on French toast.

Serves 2 to 4

3 eggs

180 ml (? c) milk

5 ml (1 t) castor sugar

30 g butter

8 slices white bread

100 g milk chocolate, finely chopped

icing sugar, for dusting

  1. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, castor sugar and a pinch of salt together until well combined.
  2. Heat half the butter in a large nonstick frying pan over medium heat. Coat 2 bread slices in the egg mixture and put in the pan. Sprinkle each slice with a quarter of the chocolate. Soak 2 more bread slices in the egg and place on top of the chocolate. Press down gently. Cook for 3 minutes each side, until golden.
  3. Repeat with the remaining ingredients. Slice and serve dusted with icing sugar.
