Christmas with the Sedibe's

She looks relaxed and her fresh glow suggests this is one contented woman. And why shouldn’t she be? After all, she’s happy as can be and her infectious smile attracts stares

as she walks into the fancy Tasha’s in upmarket Melrose Arch with her two sons, Donelle (10) and Khomo (3). Sonia Sedibe is out for lunch with her boys and taking in a little Christmas shopping along the way.

“I’ve learnt the hard way,” she says as she puts her shopping bags on the floor. “I don’t do my Christmas shopping at the last minute anymore.

Last year almost everything was sold out by the time I got around to it and I struggled to find anything,” she smiles as her boys order their food and pull out their

PSPs for a little gaming time. For Sonia this time out on the town is a perfect gift – now that she’s no longer on the popular soapie Generations, where she played Ntombi for seven years, she can enjoy the simple pleasures in life.

She can now go shopping in the company of her beautiful children and not have to worry about call time. “When I was at Generations I used to take

the boys to work with me, especially during school holidays. I would leave them in my dressing room,” she recalls. But with Generations a thing of her past,

she has her sights set on the immediate future, which is making this the best Christmas ever. This year she and her husband, Leslie Sedibe (38), and their children,

including Leslie’s two children from his previous marriage, are going on a family holiday to Cape Town before Christmas.

They will be back home to spend the big day of festivity with family in Joburg. In their family they take turns when it comes to hosting the Christmas gathering

each year. This year her mother-in-law will be hosting them in Ekurhuleni for this joyous celebration.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” she says.
