Most moms know the responsibility of getting their kids reading lies with teachers and parents - not just the one or the other. Anyone who takes lessons in piano, tennis or swimming knows you have to practise hard to win or even be a champion one day. You can only improve through practise. It’s the same with reading.

Most moms know the responsibility of getting their kids reading lies with teachers and parents - not just the one or the other. Anyone who takes lessons in piano, tennis or swimming knows you have to practise hard to win or even be a champion one day. You can only improve through practise. It’s the same with reading.

Teachers and parents should ensure that especially those children who battle to read keep on doing it until they improve. However, the difference is often that sport players want to practise because there’s a competition or match around the corner. Readers don’t have that incentive.

So how can we make reading fun? In fact, how can we make it so much fun children would want to read by themselves?
