Crème Brûlée with a Kick

This creamy dessert is the perfect ending to any meal.

 (Serves 4–6) 

You'll need:

500 ml fresh cream

1 tsp. vanilla pods

75 g castor sugar

6 egg yolks

Blueberry-flavoured Lindt chocolate

Milk tart flavoured ice cream

Pour the fresh cream and vanilla pods into a saucepan and stir until boiling point on low heat. Remove from the heat to cool down and mix for about 5 min. Put back onto the heat for a few min. and keep stirring. Mix egg yolks and castor sugar together until fluffy in a heat-proof bowl. Mix the cream slowly into the egg yolk mixture while stirring. NB: Don’t pour it all in at the same time as the egg yolk will scramble because of the heat. Sieve the mixture into a jug. Boil a kettle of water and pour it into a large baking bowl so that you can add the smaller cups of Crème Brûlée into the water. Follow next step for this: Pour the jug mixture into small cups about ¾ filled and place it into the large bowl filled with water. Place in the oven at 180 °C for 45 min. When done remove from hot water and let it cool down. Melt the chocolate on a low heat over a pot of water in a heat-proof bowl. When melted, let it cool down. Pour melted chocolate over the baked Crème Brûlée and let it cool.

Serving suggestion:

Serve with milk tart flavoured ice cream and dried fruit.
