American R&B crooner Johnny Gill says he’s way too excited to be in Mzansi.

Speaking to DRUM during a brunch in Rosebank, north of Johannesburg, Johnny says he’s looking forward to spending some time in our beautiful country.

Johnny and two-time Grammy Award winner James Ingram are currently on our shores ahead of tomorrow’s Valentine’s Day one-night only The Love Concert at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand.

Johnny has promised all the ladies a “night to remember”.

Some of the songs that he will perform are taken from his new album, Game Changer, which peaked at number 8 on the American Billboard charts – a milestone that Johnny is proud of.

He worked with industry greats such as Babyface and Anthony Hamilton on the album.

Since he’s performing on such a romantic day, we asked him if he has a special lady in his life and he jokes that “love sucks”, before saying, “I’ve just been in a relationship and it’s expensive when you have more than one friend, it means you have to spend a lot of money.”

If the music bug hadn’t bitten, Johnny would have gladly been a boxer because he was “good at it”, but he also loved engineering.

The Love Concert starts at 7.30 pm. James was unwell so he couldn’t attend the brunch.
