Gospel legend Deborah Fraser has retaliated at fellow gospel musician,  Khaya Mthethwa's comments regarding traditional gospel stars.

In a statement, Fraser called Mthethwa's comments 'hurtful and misleading', saying that they've laboured hard 'to spread the message of peace, harmony and love' to all people, irrespective of color, creed and age.

At his CD/DVD launch on Monday, Khaya Mthethwa is reported to have called Debora Fraser and other traditional artists 'irrelevant' to the younger generation'.

'Young people are not listening to the likes of Debora Fraser and all these traditional gospel stars because we don't relate. We might appreciate it, but there's no connection between us and them,' Khaya said.

Deborah retaliated to that statement saying "what Khaya said was wrong. You do not say that as an artist.People still buy our music, it is both hurtful and misleading for certain individuals to accuse traditional gospel artists of being irrelevant to the younger generation."

She added that since Khaya's utterances, she's received calls from young people showing support. 'numerous phone calls from young fans assuring me that I have their unwavering support.'

We hope peace prevails between the two gospel stars.
