Deborah's blissful new farm life

IT'S a typical ranch complete with sprawling lawns and wooden railings stretching from the gate all the way up the long driveway to the grand house. And if it weren't for the familiar Joburg city skyline in the distance, we could be in Dallas, Texas.

Out here gospel "It" girl Deborah Fraser (44) can laze around listening to the hadedas (a kind of bird), she can play with her kids and grow her own vegetables to her heart's content. She can, if the fancy takes her, put on her clamdigger pants and walk around barefoot. Or she can throw an overnight party without fear of neighbourhood patrols. It is, after all, a world away from the hustle and bustle of city life and prying paparazzi."I do fancy myself wearing the clamdiggers but I can't for the life of me walk around barefoot because I'm diabetic," she says with a grin. "We can certainly throw a party and the neighbours won't hear a thing."
