After five years in the wilderness, Bongani “DJ Bongz” Dlamini-Ngcobo seems to have made a dramatic return to glory with the success of his new album, Game Changer.

Not only has his hit song Ofana Nawe become one of the 2015 festive season anthems, the album has now been nominated in the Best Kwaito Album category at the 15th Metro FM Music Awards.

“It’s good to get a nomination after having released an album. It says people have noticed,” he explains in a chat with DRUM.

The album’s hits, including Ofana Nawe and Sobabili, are receiving huge airplay on radio nationwide.

The Durban-based DJ already has one Metro FM Music Award in his bag; and is certainly hoping for a second one.

“If I don’t get it that will mean someone else has worked harder than me. I just want people to give me attention,” says the hit-maker, who has also introduced a new dance move called gwaragwara.

A Metro FM winner walks away with R100 000 for each category.

There are about 22 categories for this year’s awards.
