DJ Tira’s Afrotainment is one of the country’s most successful music stables, and has been making history over the past few years.

From developing Durban Kwaito music to producing hit after hit, its artists are among the most successful in the country.

Now Tira, whose real name is Mthokozisi Khathi, is about to let the curtain down on how he made it to the top. Afrotainment is cooking up a new reality show, Ezase Afro: The Empire, which will premiere on Mzansi Magic channel 161 from 14 January at 8 pm. It will open a window onto the lives of the stable’s successful house music sensations like DJ Fisherman, DJ Cndo and Big Nuz. From the friendships and family, from the jet-set lifestyle to the pressures of fame, it’s an up-close look at how Afrotaiment became a success.

M-Net’s Director of Local Interest Channels Nkateko Mabaso says that personality-driven reality television continues to draw consistently high ratings across the world, and South Africa is no exception: “Audiences want to share in the experiences of famous individuals whose lives are interesting, dynamic and evolving.”

Nkateko says that locally, DJ Tira is one of the country’s most versatile stars. “Viewers will get the chance to see just why he is talented, popular and successful.”

The show is expected to be a rollercoaster ride as the crew band together to face tight deadlines, performing on the country’s biggest stages and hectic studio recording.
