“We would like to encourage the victims of this scam to report the matter at the police station nearest to the venue of the bogus auditions"- Muvhango producer.

There is a rumour that SABC 2 soapie Muvhango is auditioning new actors – but the catch is, you have to cough up R300 to be considered for a role. However, the production team has issued a statement distancing itself from rumour calling it a scam.

According to Muvhango’s Associate Producer Morishe Matlejoane, the scammers used the name of a casting agency, Becky Casting Agency, which they have been doing business with for years. Matlejoane says they have since cut ties with Becky Casting Agency as their name was roped in from an e-mail they had sent to the agency.

Matlejoane stressed that production companies don’t charge a fee for auditions or screening, an said that any company or individual who does so is committing fraud.

“We would like to encourage the victims of this scam to report the matter at the police station nearest to the venue of the bogus auditions,” he urged.
